Put OS into drive. Hang. Set BIOS differently. Hang. Hit computer. Hang. Hit it again, because.. ARRRGH!
Basically there was a lot of fiddling about, reading various solutions online (that didn't work and never have when I encounter this problem), and I finally said "Ok, nope, we're gonna stream from Mint."
And lo, I grabbed one of the laptops, downloaded Mint, made an .iso image on a random thumbdrive, and NOW the computer, she is working :) Much relief! I tested everything, yep, she's fine. Why, whenever I slam into a wall of Windows, do I always turn back to some flavor of Linux? Because IT WORKS.
This is a new flavor for me and the best of them all so far. https://linuxmint.com/download.php. Just beautiful. Elegant, no klunkiness, it's just gorgeous.
So after I do the entire long 10 minute setup of an entirely different OS and ALL updates (HA! It's so beautifully fast too!), I go into the depository and? Yes, grabbing OBS. :)
I'll be late for the April 15th date I originally wanted to start, I know that, but it won't be too much later! Already making some pre-recorded footage as well, so there will already be content, thank God :) LOL!

Getting some OBS on there :) |
Then I tested the new internet connection we had installed (that makes four now - we have FOUR providers here now. HA!)... looks like I'll be able to get video out at 480 at least. For a stream with no gaming, it may be acceptable. Living in the boonies.. it has MANY upsides. Internet is NOT one of them. I'm lucky to the have the 3mbps upload speed I do now! :D
This was playing at VERY HIGH VOLUME as I worked and watched the rain come in. One of my favorite songs :) Very surreal evening! Now to second sleep, and then see how that system deals with all of the bits and bobs for streaming - cameras, mic, etc. Well maybe that tomorrow.. the son and I are catching him up on GoT before the 14th!
